1. BIG UPDATE: 45-Day Visa Exemption for Romanians

Starting from August 15, 2025, and continuing through 2026, citizens of Romania are officially eligible for 45 days of visa-free entry to Vietnam for tourism purposes.

  • Stay Duration: Up to 45 days (including arrival and departure dates).

  • Requirements: Your Romanian passport must be valid for at least 6 months and have at least two blank pages.

  • Entry Points: Valid at all international airports, land borders, and seaports.

2. When Do Romanians Still Need a Visa?

Even with the exemption, you will need to apply for a visa (E-visa or Visa on Arrival) if:

  • You plan to stay in Vietnam for longer than 45 days.

  • Your purpose of entry is Work or Investment.

  • You wish to enter and exit Vietnam multiple times within a short period (outside the exemption rules).

3. Vietnam E-visa for 90 Days

For stays up to 90 days, the E-visa is the most recommended option in 2026.

  • Type: Single or Multiple Entry.

  • Processing: 3–5 working days.

  • Cost: 25 USD (Single) or 50 USD (Multiple) government fee.

4. Mandatory for 2026: The Digital Arrival Card

Regardless of whether you enter visa-free or with an E-visa, all travelers from Romania must now complete the Digital Arrival Card before landing.

  • Effective Date: April 15, 2026.

  • Timeline: Must be submitted within 72 hours before your scheduled arrival.

  • Process: Submit your details online to receive a QR Code. You must present this QR code to immigration officers at major airports like Tan Son Nhat (SGN) or Noi Bai (HAN).

  • Our Service: We provide full assistance in generating this mandatory QR code for our clients to avoid delays at the border.

5. Vietnam Embassy in Bucharest

If you require a specific visa type (such as a long-term diplomatic or work visa), you can visit the Embassy directly:

6. Stricter Penalties in 2026 (Decree 282/2025)

Please be aware that Vietnam has implemented Decree 282/2025, which significantly increases fines for overstaying.

  • Overstays of even 1–15 days can result in fines up to 2,000,000 VND and potential blacklisting.

  • Always ensure your stay matches your visa or exemption period.
